About the yaoi...

Let me just say: I HATE yaoi from non-yaoi manga. But I LOVE yaoi manga. Yes, there are some series (eyeshield 21, anyone?) where it's just sort of THERE and you can ignore it all you want, but...as far as shonen manga goes, it's just not on. I think some girls are just crazy.

Now actual yaoi manga, IMHO, is quite different. There are some yaoi mangas that are really, really bad, but the good ones are just breathtaking (and the heartbreaking ones are even better).

But I've spent literally hours wondering WHAT it is that is so great about it and I couldn't tell you. I don't know if it's just me, but I really don't like people messing around with Bleach or other shonen manga characters, yet I'm totally fine with "genuine" yaoi.

What annoys me most about yaoi is that it's a COMPLETELY one-sided industry. Book stores near me have shelves of yaoi of all kinds, and one softcore yuri. Don't get e wrong, some of the yaoi is good (this coming from a straight guy), but I'd like to see some equalization in the offerings.
